Dating during trial separation
After all, if you can regularly date your spouse again and this goes well, that’s part of rebuilding your marriage and showing your spouse that the two of you can have fun, connect again, and still have a spark on which you can and want to rebuild.
But, many couples aren’t quite sure about how to approach this.
It might seem to make sense because of finances or children.
This is very difficult to do; however, because it really does not allow for the space and distance that best helps to change unhealthy patterns.
The distraction of dating complicates any effort to see if healing and change can happen in a marriage.
So many couples leave this open ended and when they do, it’s my experience that things are less likely to go well.
It is far better when that is said out loud rather than when it is kept secret.
Some couples can separate and still live in the same house.
It can mean gaining an understanding of what happened during years of marriage.
